Krukonogi-Titanium overview
General Information
Krukonogi-Titanium
Krukonogi-Titanium mostly design ice, mixed, drytooling and aid products. It's also one of the very few businesses that develop titanium and carbon fibre for climbing applications. If you follow UIAA Ice World Cup you have seen the art of Krukonogi-Titanium for sure. The Russian brand, from St- St-Petersburg, sponsor many top ice, mixed and drytooling athletes. When Krukonogi-Titanium is on the tree steps of a podium and their athletes won the overall World Cup standings for both men and women, it means something. The brand is renowned for its high strength spare pick and its high-performance ice tool optimized for World Cup and other big competitions.
Modular picks are a unique product developed by the Krukonogi-Titanium company. These picks have a replaceable tip, which offers several advantages. With an ice pick, only the tip wears out, so if the tip can be replaced, you don't need to buy a new pick. This is a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly option. It also allows the use of higher-quality steel in the replaceable tip while keeping the cost reasonable. This is because there is significantly less steel used compared to a whole pick when replacing the tip.

Krukonogi-Titanium is currently manufacturing modular ice picks for the Petzl Nomic and Cassin X-Dream ice tool models. These picks are marked with an M after the brackets, and the number indicates the version. For example, PNSOO(A,TN)M1 is the first version of the modular pick for Petzl Nomic. First prototype
The pick had the same geometry as a regular pure ice pick, but it was composed of two parts. The connecting element was flat and quite thin. The design of the connecting element was not very successful, as it tended to become loose during use. This version did not go on sale and, soon after, was replaced by second one.

Second version
There are no modifications to the main part, so it's still the same pure ice pick, composed of two parts. The connecting element has become larger and more complex in geometry. The bolts used for connecting have also become longer. In the case of Cassin, screws are used for connection, while in the case of Petzl, there are bolts with nuts.
